Long back I had seen a movie where the character was narrating a story. He offers a chocolate to a lady and the first line he says
Life Is A Box Of Chocolate And You Never Know What You Gona Get….
Box of Chocolate and Life….you kidding me… how can someone ever compare life with a box of chocolate?
I thought to turn off the movie and go back to sleep…
Are you also thinking the same like me…?
Hold on for a sec, why not to give a second thought.
Close your eyes… Take a deep breath… Count 1 to 10… and… NOW!!
Go back to your past and think and recall few of the incidences which have turned your world upside down. Now tell me did you planned or expected everything that has happened to you…
Hummmmm….
Don’t bug me, I know you know the answer don’t you…
I am of the believe that we can’t plan our life we can only prepare ourselves for any challenges life throws at us. We can create a milestone and a bench beside that, as we knew we will be totally exhausted by the time we reach there. So we need a place to rest and to refuel ourselves to get prepared for the next challenges.
Still wondering huh…., let me put it another way…
We all are staying in a cricket crazy nation, were Dhoni’s change in hair style makes a headline, Sachin’s elbow injury will make Doctor’s sleepless night.
Now image a World cup final match between two arch rivals India & Pakistan.
Muumuu… Eden Garden no make it Mohali it’s a bating pitch and we love to see our hero’s going for boundaries.
Imagine India had a very bad season, and even in the World Cup preliminary matches, they lost to Kenya & Bangladesh. But somehow they manage to finals (I don’t know, but they did). Their ICC ratings are lowest of all time.
Now the match starts (D&N), everybody knows the team who won the toss will elect to bat first, bad luck follows India and India lose toss to Pakistan, and Pakistan elected to bat first. Pakistan has scored 350 in 50 overs. Experts (including the public) are not leaving any corner untouched to blame Indian team. Moral in India dressing room is as usual low. Half of the spectators have left the stadium.
Now the Indian innings starts, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar with Sultan of Multan Virendra Sehwag were on the crease. There is no cheering for the Indian team, complete Pin drop silence. First ball of the innings and Sehwag sent it to the boundary, and suddenly silence breaks & spectators started chanting the Sehwag’s name (how easy to break the silence of Indians).
Indian team slowly and steadily heading for the target, they were 150 in 15 overs. Both the openers have given India a much-needed start.
But… But… But… Sehwag got caught & bold at 89. Now comes the Ganguly (no offense I will choose my own team) and he also got caught at the boundary when India is at 160. Suddenly the balance of pressure shifted to India, and as usual Indian public starting cursing Indian team again.
But all is well when Sachin is at the crease. Indian batsmen were coming and going as if there is some catwalk going on. Indians were 280 for 8 in 45 overs. Shirinath and Sachin were there at the crease. India is now 339 for 8 in 49 overs.
Last, over of the match India needs 12 runs to bring home 1984 glory.
Over starts and Sachin hits for a boundary, and again hope alive in the public. Next ball and Sachin takes a single, but no… wait! he was been declared LBW, once again he was a victim of a wrong decision. India now 343 in 49.2 overs. India needs 8 more runs in just 3 balls to go.
It’s a cut-throat match; commentators are warning if someone has a weak heart then leave the stadium.
Now Balaji joins Shrinath. Balaji is facing the first ball and he takes a single. Shrinath is now on the crease and he also takes the single. Now final ball of the innings and India needs 6 runs to win this match.
Both India and Pakistan were now in pressure (Imagine if Ravi Shastri and Tony Grey were there at this time to do commentary along with Sidhu who with his ornamental English definitely add spice to a menu).
Balaji is facing the final ball and he hits it high, oh my god it’s a biggie, I think he will get caught. Whole of the stadium was dead silence as if someone has paused it, hey wait I see Pakistani fielder has caught the ball and crossed the boundary and it’s a SIX. India wonnnnnn the match.
Next day’s paper was flooded with praise for Indian cricket team (just a day back, these papers were saying that India will loose the final…. How funny….). You never know after this winning Dhoni will be made as Sports minister of India.
Now think about the whole situation again, think if we happen to know that even if India having a bad season, even if India having a bad start in World Cup will won the series….. Then do you think we will have that fun watching the match? I don’t think so…..
I won’t be long, but we will gradually lose our interest if we know what is there for us in the future. We won’t think at all and in that case, the brain will come to standstill. And we all know what will happen if brain will stop working.
So it won’t be wrong to say “Life Is A Box Of Chocolate And You Never Know What You Gona Get”...
